SYMVU Map

This 3D Map of Venezuela's 1980 Population Density was prepared using  SYMVU, one of the earliest versions of GIS software technology.  Notice the spike in population density for the primary city of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.  The population density was then considerably low towards the adjacent areas east and west along the Cordillera de Los Andes and Cordillera de La Costa, respectively.  Also, the population density was so low in the southern portion of the country that it lacks map elevation to denote somewhat population density and the map bleeds without assigning elevation to show the country southernmost boundary.

SYMAP

This contour choropleth map shows the distribution of land and property values around downtown New Brunswick, NJ, during the mid 1980s revitalization experienced in the city.  The map was prepared using SYMAP, an early 2D GIS software package, and plotted on a large inkjet map plotter.
