Geolibraries
-
In addition to publishing a chapter on metadata for geolibraries in my Ph.D. dissertation, I have also worked on several geolibrary projects. For example, I modeled data and metadata specifications for the Andean Amazon GIS Web Portal (AAGWP), a GIS portal we built at the Florida International University (FIU) GIS and Remote Sensing Center to support data collection and production among several Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) universities.

I also participated in the Digital Libraries of the Caribbean (D-loc) project with the University of Florida, where we georeferenced local printed materials and other ephemera gathered from several LAC countries to create geospaial information for the collection.

Some of the tasks performed for these projects included: data and metadata modelling; metadata production; translating technical materials on digitization and metadata creation into Spanish; working with selected LAC universities on geospatial data projects; and digitizing neighborhood boundaries for the Miami Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) GIS website.

In addition, I produced floor plans to model the development of the Maps Imagery, and Urban Services (MIUS) users service area. I also produced floor plans to support the redesigning of the Green Library's public spaces. The examples shown here include floor plans for the redesign of selected public spaces, such as circulation desk, special collection areas, as well as library space top level management.
